Kevton Teas are grown in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka
formerly known as Ceylon, has a world renowned history for their tea. Sri
Lanka, an island nation off the south coast of India, in the Indian Ocean
is quite often referred to as "The Pearl of the Indian Ocean." Originally
a coffee growing country, tea was first introduced by James Taylor, a
British planter. Taylor experimented with various teas that he thought
were appropriate for the terrain and climate. In 1869, the coffee industry
took a serious fall. Several plantation owners took notice of Taylor’s tea
planting and followed suit. Today Sri Lanka is the third largest tea
producing country in the world.
Kevton Teas are grown at
altitudes of 4,000 to 6,000 feet elevation. This produces a supreme
quality of light tea with a high concentration of flavor. This altitude
and pick also produce a naturally low caffeine tea, without chemical baths
which typically are used to de-caffeinate a tea. Each and every tea leaf
is selectively hand picked. The leaves are then dried. We then blend our
teas before naturally flavoring or bagging. This ensures consistency and
distinguishes our blend from others. The results are a beautiful, light
aromatic tea with the pureness of high grown black tea and a clean taste
of natural flavoring.
I have spent
countless hours and effort, as well as several trips back and forth to the
plantations, to ensure that we produce and provide a quality, consistent
product that not only tastes wonderful but is unique and naturally good for
you. To date Kevton is the oldest and most consistent Import/Manufacturer
of tea in wooden boxes in the United States. We are proud to announce that
we are the first company to receive Taste of Texas status, now Go Texas
from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
